Radiohead Remix Project

Nude Descending Staircase in 5

Eternal glory is the prize!!!

For comparison, here is the original

I tried to give our remix the feel of The Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Take Five" and the vibe of Madeleline Peyroux's cover of Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go". To avoid being TOO derivative, I work off of memories instead of sounds....

Mega nerdy details for this remix:
- Changed the meter to 5/8 for maximum dance action!
- Eight note = 160 bpm
- Used Elastic Audio to make it swing like a rusty hinge.
- Created synth patches out of Thom Yorke’s vocals.
- Kept the bass, drum, and some guitar tracks.
- Recorded Judy singing the vocals
- Processed new guitar parts (left side) with Eleven. Jonny Greenwood’s guitar (real amp) starts on the right side at 1 minute.
- Manually sliced and diced the string section for the “solo”.
- Used the new Hybrid 1.5 filters and overdrives. Nice!
- Filtered intro parts with Access Virus Indigo.

Biggest lesson learned:
Elastic Audio – If you quantize elastic audio events to change the feel, first finalize region boundaries and create duplicate playlists. If you trim regions after you quantize elastic audio very strange things happen… the positions of audio event markers are unrelated to transients in the newly revealed region areas.
